Rogue Valley is a region located in southern Oregon, United States. It takes its name from the Rogue River, which flows through the valley from east to west. Sometimes referred to as "Beaver Country" (in reference to Oregon's state animal, the beaver), this region is renowned for its varied landscapes, Mediterranean climate and dynamic economy, which is mainly focused on agriculture, tourism and viticulture. Originally inhabited by the Takelma and Shasta Native Americans, Rogue Valley was colonised by Europeans in the mid-19th century. They were attracted by the fertile land and natural resources, while the discovery of gold in local rivers also stimulated the region's development. Today, Rogue Valley is a dynamic region, combining agricultural tradition, wine-making innovation and tourist appeal, while preserving a natural environment and a rich cultural life. The beaver, symbol of Oregon, is a reminder of the historical and ecological importance of this valley.
